I highly recommend this PVC post sleeve for your birdhouse. It protects the 4x4 wooden post from damage, fading, and chipping, even on pressure-treated wood. The material feels very thick and heavy duty.
Here are a few helpful fit details: Length: At 72 inches long, it gives you plenty of extra room for higher setups. I only needed 54.5 inches for a 58.5-inch post height.
Placement: The sleeve stops at the bottom of the birdhouse and does not slide inside it at least for my birdhouse size (Copper Roof Birdhouse 28x12-3 perches).
Post Fit: The actual 4x4 wooden post goes 4 inches up inside the birdhouse base. Not sure if it will be the same for other size birdhouses.
