Gilbertson Nest Box- NABS Approved

Simple to monitor, an Eastern bluebird favorite!

The Gilbertson Nest Box is approved by the North American Bluebird Society. Now with optional poly-lumber matching roof.

Preferred by blues over the years, cool birdhouse mounts quickly and easily on 1/2-inch conduit. PVC will not rot, split or crack, nest box will host many successful broods with its great features:

  • Overhang roof design discourages house sparrows, easy to attach a wren guard or sparrow spooker.
  • Body is easily removed by squeezing and elongating the top opposite sides, minimizes early fledges, and allows for easy monitoring.
  • Recessed floor will not accumulate water, center drain hole should be checked every few months.
  • Designed to keep water out, and nestlings dry.
  • Attractive birch appearance complements the landscape.
  • Lightweight with easy installation
  • Long lasting vinyl/PVC cavity
  • Roof option of cedar or matching poly-lumber (recycled plastic)

Nest Box includes mounting instructions and supplemental bluebird information. Beware of knock-offs, get the original design by Steve Gilbertson for best results!

Gilbertson Nest Box

Already have these type of boxes and expanding territory so these are a welcome addition!! Gilbertson Nests have worked well on reducing the problem of English Sparrow infestations. The pricing was reasonable and the additional information supplied for set up and Blue Birding in General was greatly appreciated. Will be definitely using Bird House Chick for future purchases! Very pleased with Nesting boxes and info and purchase in general!

Blue bird house

Unfortunately, we ordered it late in the season. We are hoping one of the pairs of blue birds will next next year. They were inspecting it this fall, so we have high hopes!

It was to late in the year for nesting so I don't know about that but it seems to sway a lot in the wind.

The Birdhouse Chick

If the birdhouse is swaying- installation is likely incorrect. The conduit should be pushed further below grade and/or the rebar should be used inside metal conduit for stability. Bluebirds won't be very fond of a swaying birdhouse come next spring. Please try to correct the installation so that Blues will use the nest box- Thanks!

High quality product

Impressed by the quality and details such as the drip groove. To insure that it would not rotate on the EMT conduit mount, I drilled a small hole centered on the back so a screw could be inserted to make contact with the EMT conduit. Looking forward to next year's crop of bluebirds.
